Flooring Adhesives
Floor Surfaces interlocking tile is designed for installation without adhesive.
However the following are installations where adhesive may be required:
- Vertical walls.
- Steep angled slopes where the tile may slide downhill.
- Installation over angled transitions or curved floors
where the tile will not conform to the floor.
If Floor Surfaces interlocking tile is to be installed with adhesive the following adhesive is recommended,
however Floor Surfaces warrantiy does not apply to other manufacurers adhesive products.

Moisture Emission Sealer #AAT-1185
Contact Floor Surfaces for details.
Installing with adhesive requires care, control and skill. The quality of the installation is primarily determined by three critical steps that must be carefully handled:
- Ensuring that the bonding surface of tiles are clean and carefully prepared.
- Using correct adhesive and applying it according to precise instructions.
- That great care be taken in preparing floor surfaces. The floor must be clean, have no contaminents and tested to be within strict moisture specifications and tested per ASTM F-1869 and Alkalinity pH tested to be within a pH range of 5 to 9.
- Ensuring an acceptable level of moisture emission
using Test Method per ASTM F 1869.
Test per ASTM F 1869: Mandatory accepable result is a maximum of (3) lbs. per 1,000 square feet per 24 hours with (1) test required for each 1,000 square feet.
Failure to follow these precise guielines is to risk subsequent lifting of tile from the floor, and that manufacturers warranties regarding adhesion will not apply.
Bonded Installations:
Floor Surfaces Warranty specifically does not apply to the physical installation of floor tile products since Floor Surfaces has: (a) No control over contractors or installers and (b) No control over the procurement of adhesives or the care and procedures by which such adhesives are used.
