Considerations in Purchasing
Interlocking Floor Tile

This information is provided for viewers interested in purchasing 'Interlocking Floor Tile'. The information covers both our tiles, and those made by our competitors. Naturally we at Floor Surfaces would like you to choose our tiles, and yet we recognize that our prices are not the lowest.

So how do you decide which tiles to purchase and why?

There are many choices ranging from Home Depot $0.99 cent stick on tile, Epoxy, Interlocking PVC, Interlocking Polypropylene, Rubber, Vinyl, Rolled sheets and others.

Polypropylene tiles by Race Deck (Snap Lock), Motor Mat and Kiwi tile from New Zealand, are generally priced around $3:50 to $3.75 per sq. ft.

What's wrong with these tiles?     Absolutely nothing is the answer.
They are strong, and will clearly do the job.

So, if price alone is the only issue: Then the tiles above maybe your answer.

However there are other considerations: Would you prefer to have an attractive stylish textured finish tile, with hidden interlock design and tight seams. Would your prefer a floor that is quiet, softer, and does not make noise when walked on?
.......... Only 'Flexible Interlocking PVC' tiles have all of these features.

 Race Deck / Snap Lock$3.75
 Kiwi Tile3.75
 Motor Mat3.85

Polypropylene tiles cost less to manufacture than Flexible PVC. These tiles are rigid, hard and may be noisy. When walked on you may hear the tile deflect and tap the floor underneath. They are usually not liquid seepage resistant, and the appearance has a distinctive 'Plastic' look.

Now Let's Look at Typical Costs:

The investment in a two car garage of approximately 450 square feet, typically costs between $1,690.00 and $2,250.00 (Floor Surfaces - (Resilia: $1,550.00).

So for a sensible you can have that Flexible, Quiet, Softer
PVC, and maybe the best looking floor on the block.
Floor Surfaces proposes that Flexible PVC makes the finest garage floors, and the tiles of all three Flexible PVC manufacturers are all suitable to support automobiles, benches, cabinets and racks etc. PVC may be considered a finer tile than Polypropylene due to differences in design, superior appearance, and the softer quiet quality of Flexible PVC.

It is these features that make Interlocking PVC tiles very suitable for Offices, Showrooms, Medical Practices, Manufacturing, Schools, Dog Boarding Homes, Warehousing, Gyms and more.

Liquid Resistance:
Most Polypropylene tiles allow liquid to easily flow through the seams to the floor underneath: However, some designs makes it almost impossible to remove tiles within a floor area since such tiles have to be rotated upwards like a page from a book to un-interlock. This of course cannot be done if they are interlocked to adjacent tiles, and the only solution is to remove all the tiles from the edges, and then replacing them all again when the oil, liquid, or maybe even spilled milk, have been removed.
