Floor Surface 'ResiliaTM' Interlocking Floor tiles are molded from Flexible PVC (flexible polyvinyl chloride), a plastic material.
Flexible PVC is similar to the PVC as used for making plumbing pipe that is used in virtually all new houses in the western world. The material is tough, strong and can last for up to fifty years or so in normal conditions in indoor environments.
The difference between Rigid PVC and 'Flexible' PVC, is that compounds called 'plasticizers' are added. These compounds change PVC into a flexible rubber like material that can be made with hard to soft rubber characteristics depending on the amount of plasticizer added.
Both PVC and Flexible PVC are inherantly fire retardant.
